Rovaniemi Airport Train Transfers
The Rovaniemi airport has good ground transportation connections to the city core, hotels, Santa Park, and vacation & ski areas. Some local resorts arrange their guests' transportation to and from the airport.
Rovaniemi Airport regrettably lacks a railroad station. If you're taking the train, the railway station is close to the city center. You can travel from the airport by bus for about €2, or by cab for about €30.
Prices for single tickets vary. Here are a few examples of fares.
- From Helsinki – Tampere, €8.90
- From Jyväskylä – Helsinki, €9.90
- From Tampere – Turku, €9.70
- From Helsinki – Joensuu, €22.30
Prices may vary at any time. Visit https://www.vr.fi/en for additional details about VR trains.
Rovaniemi Railway Station
Finland's Rovaniemi is home to the Rovaniemi railway station. In 1909, the line from the south was inaugurated; in 1934, it was extended to Kemijärvi. Direct passenger trains run day and night to Oulu, Tampere, Helsinki, and Turku. The nighttime trains served as Kemijärvi's sole passenger route as of March 2014.
Electrification was extended to Kemijärvi in 2014 and finished to Rovaniemi in 2004. On May 21, 2006, a computer interlocking mechanism took the manual cane setting box role.
The current Rovaniemi station building was built in 1952–1953 and is a brick, centrally heated facility. A waiting area, cafeteria, and post office are among the spaces that were initially designed for use by passenger services.
Its personnel facilities include:
- Offices.
- A break area.
- Individual rooms for the stationmaster and train dispatcher.
- Operation center for cleaners and janitors.
The basement level was also used to store gadgets like communications equipment. The structure is similar to the later 1954–1955, Kemijärvi building.
